The Seca 606 platform scale has a large platform and fine graduations, making it suitable for many sizes of animals. The display is a cable remote control unit, making it easy to read off the values from a desk, wall mounting, or for hand held use.

The Auto-HOLD function allows the weight to be held on the display after the animal has left the scale. This allows you to take care of the animal before recording the reading. When it is time to weight again, the scale resets to zero automatically when the animal gets on the scale. It also possible to weight again while the animal is still on the scale, simply by the touch of a button.

The TARE function is very useful if an animal needs to be weighed with something else, such as a cat in its basket. The basket is simply weighed first, its tared off, then the basket with the cat inside is placed back on the scale. The display will now show only the weight of the cat. This also makes weighting an animal in the arms of its owner simple, up to a combined weight of 100kg.

The three level damping function makes it possible to weigh animals that are clam (no damping), agitated (light damping) and very agitated (heavy damping). The weighing platform has a textured but easy-to-clean surface made from scratch resistant plastic, and its edges are slightly raised and rounded on the inside corner, again for ease of cleaning. Rubber feet which can be adjusted to compensate for uneven floors makes the scale stable.

Powered by batteries which last for up to 16,000 weighings the scale does not have to be positioned near to a socket; this eliminates the risk of tripping on a mains cable. To conserve power the scale switches off automatically five minutes after the last measurement was taken or after two minutes of non-use.
